Our Miyazaki Wagyu Range

Miyazaki is a prefecture in Kyushu, Japan. Its wagyu is well known for fine marbling and a clean, sweet beefy taste, and it has won the grand champion title at Japan’s national wagyu competition several times. Every cut below comes in A5 and A4, in 200g frozen packs.
Cut What You Get Best For
Steak Cut A thick slice with a good layer of marbling Pan-searing or grilling
Yakiniku Bite-size slices cut for grilling Barbecue or a hot pan at the table
Sukiyaki Thin, tender slices that cook in seconds Sweet and savoury Japanese hotpot
Shabu Shabu Very thin slices for quick cooking Light, clear-broth steamboat
Stewing Cube Chunky cubes of well-marbled beef Braises, curries and slow-cooked stews

A5 vs A4 Wagyu: Which One Should You Buy?

Japan grades wagyu by yield (A to C) and meat quality (1 to 5). The quality score looks at marbling, meat colour, texture and the quality of the fat. Both A5 and A4 are high grades of Japanese wagyu, so the choice mostly comes down to taste and budget.
A5 Miyazaki Wagyu A4 Miyazaki Wagyu
Quality grade Highest (5) Very high (4)
Marbling score (BMS) 8 to 12 5 to 7
Taste and texture Very rich, buttery and soft Rich, with a slightly meatier bite
Best for Celebrations and smaller, indulgent portions Regular treats and bigger groups
Price Higher More affordable
Not sure where to begin? Go for A4 on everyday dinners and keep A5 for special nights.

How to Choose Wagyu for Your Meal

  • Steamboat night: Pick shabu shabu or sukiyaki. The thin slices cook in seconds and soak up the broth.
  • Barbecue or grill: Go for yakiniku. The bite-size slices sear quickly and are easy to share.
  • Steak dinner: Choose the steak cut. One 200g pack is a generous meal for one, or enough for two to share.
  • Home-cooked stew: Use the stewing cube for a rich curry or braise.
  • Gatherings and gifts: A5 packs make a memorable treat. Check our festive range too.
Wagyu is rich, so 100g to 150g per person is usually enough.

How to Thaw and Cook Frozen Wagyu

  1. Thaw the pack in the chiller overnight. Avoid thawing on the counter or in hot water, as this affects the texture.
  2. Pat the meat dry with kitchen paper so it browns well.
  3. Cook on a hot pan or grill, and keep it short. Wagyu fat melts fast. A steak needs about one to two minutes per side, depending on thickness. Yakiniku slices need only a few seconds per side, and shabu shabu slices take about five to ten seconds in simmering broth.
  4. Rest steaks for a few minutes, then slice and season with a little salt. Good wagyu does not need much else.
Cook thawed meat within a day and do not refreeze it.

Wagyu Beef FAQs

Where can I buy wagyu beef in Singapore?

You can order Japanese A5 and A4 Miyazaki wagyu online at 1974 by Meat Affair and have it delivered to your home.

What is the difference between A5 and A4 wagyu?

A5 has the highest quality score and the densest marbling, so it tastes richer and softer. A4 has slightly less marbling and a meatier bite, usually at a lower price.

Which wagyu cut is best for steamboat?

Shabu shabu and sukiyaki cuts are sliced thin for quick cooking in broth. Both come in A5 and A4.

Is your wagyu fresh or frozen?

All wagyu on this page is frozen and sold in 200g packs. Thaw it in the chiller overnight before cooking.

How much wagyu should I buy per person?

About 100g to 150g per person is plenty for most meals, since wagyu is very rich.
